Cycas revoluta - Sago Palm (cycad)
The Sago Palm is the most popular and widely cultivated cycad and originates in Japan. It is a low growing cycad but can develop a trunk about 20cm thick and 6 meters high with age.
Cycas revoluta is usually single trunked, but can sometimes pup. Pups can be removed and potted up.
Cycas revoluta is drought and frost tolerant and has beautiful, very dark glossy green leaves, which are stiff and feather like. Female inflorescence forms a tightly packed seed head, covered by miniature leaves. Male cones are pineapple shaped.
The Sago Palm is very hardy and tolerates periods of dry weather and dry frost. It is an excellent cycad for landscaping, pots or bonsai.
The Sago Palm Cycad is best grown in a sunny spot in well draining soil, but adapts well to almost any position. Add riversand, perlite or vermiculite to your regular potting mix to enhance drainage.

All plants are soaked in Seaweed Solution to strengthen them for the journey. Roots are then wrapped in moist
media, either in their pot, newspaper or sphagnum moss, before being placed in plastic to seal in the moisture.
Each item has its own label with the plant name for identification & future reference. Plants are taped into strong
cardboard boxes to stop them moving around & boxes are filled up with packing material to protect them even more.
The boxes are all sent via express post, and are marked with ‘CAUTION! Live plants – do not leave in sun!’, to
advise the post office of the nature of the items. Plants can arrive at your doorstep as early as Tuesday or Wednesday!
