When in flower cymbidium orchids can be kept inside the house in a coolish position and flowers can last in excess of 2 months, however it is best to enjoy them inside for a few weeks and then place them back outside to flower even better the following year(flowers can either be left on the plant or cut off and placed into a vase).
Cymbidiums grow easily in southern states (VIC, SA, WA, TAS and NSW). They can be grown successfully in northern more tropical areas by providing cooling growing periods around sunset prior to flowering, to initiate flower spikes. They require a temperature drop of at least 10 degrees in the evenings around Christmas to initiate flower spikes for the following season.
Cymbidium Orchids grow best in filtered light (about 50%) and regular watering and fertilising, particularly throughout summer.
Our orchids are sent 'still in there pots' on the first Monday after payment has been received.
We Can post to WA & TAS, however they need to be sent bare rooted.
I will also include detailed growing instructions.
Pickup is available from our nursery located in Mclaren Vale, South Australia.
