Description
The DI-707P is an Ethernet Broadband Router with a built-in 7-port switch. It also features a parallel port to share a printer on a small office workgroup or network and includes a print server application for Windows. As many as seven computers can be connected to the router's integrated switch, using its seven 10/100Mbps AutoMDIX Ethernet ports. The DI-707P package even includes an Ethernet cable to get you started.

The DI-707P is ideal if you're creating a small business network, or if you're a more advanced user looking for additional management settings. The DI-707P includes an easy-to-use web-based graphical user interface (GUI) to configure the router. To keep prevent unwanted Internet intruders from accessing your network, the DI-707P also serves as a feature-rich firewall.

Opening ports when connecting to DSL-router/modem
Most ADSL modems nowadays have some routing functionality and have NAT enabled. Hence adding the DI-router will introduce another NAT device in your network. You can use just your DI-router as a router and set the DSL-router into bridge mode.

You can however connect your DI-router to DSL-router and leave both as routers.

Since both devices are routers you will need to decide if you want to use DI-router as your second router or use it as just a wireless/wired hub.

If you want to use it as second router:

In this case you need to connect a network cable from DSL-router to the WAN port of the DI-router. Make sure you are getting a link light on WAN port of DI-router. Connect your computers to one of the LAN ports of DI-router or wirelessly (if your DI-router supports wireless).
Set the WAN port of the DI-router to 'Dynamic IP (DHCP)' option (it is router's default setting.
Note: if your DSL-router uses 192.168.0.x addresses on LAN, you need to change the IP address of DI-router under HOME > LAN from default 192.168.0.1 to something else. Change it to 192.168.2.1. Apply the settings and reboot your computer.

If you want to use it as a hub:

In this case you need to connect a network cable from the DSL-router to LAN port of the DI-router. You may need to use a crossover cable here. Make sure you are getting a link light on that port of the DI-router. Connect one of your computers to one of the LAN ports of the DI-router or wirelessly.
Note: if your DSL-router uses 192.168.0.1 addresses on LAN, you need to change the IP address of the DI-router under HOME > LAN before proceeding with the setup. Change it to 192.168.0.200. Apply the settings. Then relogin into the DI-router via its new IP: 192.168.0.200, then go to DHCP and disable DHCP. Click on Apply. Connect the DI-router to your DSL-router and reboot your computer.

Note on how to open ports:
- If you are using your DI-router as second router, in order to open ports to one of the computers on your LAN you need to:
1. Set your DI-router's WAN port with static IP address. The IP should be from the same range as LAN address of the DSL-router. Default Gateway on the WAN port of the DI-router should be pointing to the LAN address of the DSL-router.
2. Open necessary or all ports (DMZ) in your DSL-router redirecting them to the WAN port of the DI-router.
3. Open necessary ports in your DI-router redirecting them to the desired computer on your network.

- If you are using the DI-router as a hub, no port opening is required in it. You just need to open ports in the DSL-router.
