Product Description
Draft 802.11n Wireless ADSL/ADSL2/2+ Modem Router The DSL-2740B RangeBooster N™ ADSL/ADSL2/2+ Modem Router is a versatile, high-performance remote router for the home and small office. With integrated ADSL2/2+ supporting up to 24Mbps download speeds, firewall protection, Quality of Service (QoS), 802.11n wireless LAN (draft 1.0) and 4 Ethernet switch ports, this router provides all the functions that a home or small office needs to establish a secure and high-speed link to the Internet.
Ultimate Wireless Connection with Maximal Security Powered by RangeBooster N™ technology, this router provides wireless speeds that are up to 4 times faster than 802.11g*. Maximize wireless performance by connecting this router to computers equipped with RangeBooster N™ wireless interfaces and stay connected from virtually anywhere at home and in the office. The router can also be used with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks to enable significantly improved reception. It supports WPA/WPA2 and WEP for flexible user access security and data encryption methods.
Firewall Protection The router provides firewall security using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and hacker attack logging for Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection. SPI inspects the contents of all incoming packet headers before deciding which packets are allowed to pass through. Access control is provided with packet filtering based on port and source/destination MAC/IP addresses. With Virtual Server Mapping, only specific services on a local server, like web, FTP or games may be made accessible from the Internet, ensuring the rest of the machine remains protected from hackers. VPN pass-through is provided to let mobile users securely access office files and mail from home.
Quality of Service Features The DSL-2740B supports multiple priority queues to enable a group of home or office users to experience smooth connectivity without suffering the effects of network congestion. This support for Quality of Service (QoS) allows you to enjoy lag-free transmission for applications such as VoIP and streaming multimedia over the Internet.

D-Link First to Ship Its Most Powerful Draft 802.11n Wireless Router For Homes, Small Businesses and Gamers
Xtreme N Gigabit Router With Authorised Windows Vista Logo Features Intelligent Wireless QoS, Network Management Software and More
SYDNEY, Aust., February 9, 2007 D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for business and consumers, is now shipping its most powerful wireless networking router yet in Australia and New Zealand using the latest Draft 802.11n wireless technology.
The D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) which has earned the right to display Microsoft's Works with Windows Vista logo is a draft 802.11n compliant device that delivers up to 14x faster speeds* and 6x farther range* than 802.11g while staying backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices. The Xtreme N family including the Xtreme N desktop and notebook adapters (DWA-547 and DWA-645, respectively) is ideal for the office and homes with high-speed Internet using multiple PCs, game consoles and other digital devices such as streaming media adapters.
The new D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router displays the Works with Windows Vista logo after exhaustive testing in the Microsoft labs, where it met the performance, ease-of-use, and security standards for the Windows Vista operating system. This allows D-Link to assure potential buyers that the DIR-655 complies with the features of Windows Vista.
Hard-wiring a location for networking is not a viable solution for many consumers and small business owners, said Maurice Famularo, Marketing Director, D-Link Australia & New Zealand. "Our new Xtreme N family is the most advanced home networking family we've introduced to date, designed to meet the needs of today's digital world by providing wireless speeds that rival that of a wired connection along with greater signal coverage to reach the farthest corners of an office or home, enabling customers to get the most from their network and applications."
With faster speeds and further range than that found in 802.11g wireless products, the D-Link Xtreme N Router is the industry's first Gigabit Draft N router to incorporate Intelligent Wireless Quality of Service (QoS) Technology that automatically prioritises high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive wireless data traffic, allowing users to experience smooth streaming HD video, lag-free gaming and jitter-free voice over Internet (VoIP) calls.
The Xtreme N router also ships with Gigabit local area network (LAN) and Gigabit wide area network (WAN) ports. In addition, the Xtreme N router comes with an integrated wireless security wizard, Windows Connect Now (WCN) support for easily connecting WCN-enabled devices, Network Magic's management features from Pure Networks, removable antennas for flexible installation, and a wall-mount option.
Other key features include: - 3x3 antenna configuration for higher performance - Optional 3x3 external antenna available for optimum placement or installation - Quick Adapter Setup Wizard for easy installation - Wireless Multimedia (WMM) support - Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) support - Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) for easy remote access - WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption and Dual Active Firewall protection (SPI, NAT) for enhanced wireless security
