Dypsis leptocheilos - RedNeck or Teddy Bear Palm
The Redneck Palm is a striking palm with a crown shaft covered in dense reddish brown velvet like hair from the Madagascan rainforests. The name 'Teddy Bear Palm' refers to the hairy crown shafts.
It has beautiful foliage with a bright glossy look, with a white waxy trunk. Grows up to around 10m tall.
The Redneck Palm will grow as far south as Sydney, but plant protected from strong winds. Tolerates light frosts. Grows well in deep containers filled with well-draining soil. Water when top inch of soil feels dry. Grows well in low-light conditions.
Fertilize regularly in spring and summer, mulch well but keep mulch away from the trunk to prevent rot. Easily grown, prefers full sun/light shade, moist well-drained position.

All plants are soaked in Seaweed Solution to strengthen them for the journey. Roots are then wrapped in moist
media, either in their pot, newspaper or sphagnum moss, before being placed in plastic to seal in the moisture.
Each item has its own label with the plant name for identification & future reference. Plants are taped into strong
cardboard boxes to stop them moving around & boxes are filled up with packing material to protect them even more.
The boxes are all sent via express post, and are marked with ‘CAUTION! Live plants – do not leave in sun!’, to
advise the post office of the nature of the items. Plants can arrive at your doorstep as early as Tuesday or Wednesday!
