DANIEL & ARTER SILVER PLATED JAM POT VINE & GRAPES

This is a delightful silver plated jam pot of good weight, standing on 3 bun feet it is manufactured by the renowned silversmiths, Daniel & Arter.

(I have also listed Biscuit barrel and butter pot by Daniel & Arter.)

This most attractive item was made before the partnership became a limited company in 1920 and I believe it to date around 1900-15.

The business closed in 1930s.

The base, rim and lid have an elegant beaded border. There is an impressed border at the top and bottom of the body of grape and vine leaves. The belly has an elaborate cartouche that is blank. The finial is in the style of a bunch of grapes.

The plate is bright and is not worn. There are no dints, splits or dings in the body. The inner rim is loose for about 2 thirds its circumference but can be repaired if required. There is a little wear to the interior from a liner but not detrimental. There is no longer a liner but a jar could be used as a replacement.

Base is impressed “DANIEL & ARTER

E.P.N.S.

H7192”

Interior of the lid is impressed as the base.

Height 6 inches

Diameter almost 4 inches,

Firm established by Thomas Henry Daniel and Thomas Richard Arter at the Globe Nevada Silver Works, Highgate Street, Birmingham. The firm was converted in 1920 into a limited liability company under the style Daniel & Arter Ltd. The business closed in the 1930s.
