We are located in the Sydenham and Bacchus Marsh area, we will work in Western and Northern Suburbs and also Geelong and Ballarat.
Our DECKINGS are built using the best materials, a choice of Merbu, Balau, Malas, Mahogony or Treated pine deck is available. Our decks are built using either 70mm, 90mm or 140mm decking, The entire border of the decking is picture framed, the joins are all pre-drilled and hand nailed with 50mm galvinised nails to avoid the Merbu from splitting, steps are fully lined and side plinth boards are from Merbu decking or on elevated decks Treated pine plinth boards can also be used especially when matching an existing Timber home. We have built deckings as small as 2sq mt to as large as 135sq mt. We take care and pride in building our deckings to obtain the neatest finish.
Most Important things to look out for when building a deck:
1. Not too much spring- This means the decking is firm and has enough support in the sub-floor. ie. Stumps, bearers and joists. They must also be spaced to regulation assuring the decks strength and firmness and minimizing springing.
2. Picture framed borders - This eliminates the untidy ends of the decking.
3. Pre-Drilled joins - This eliminates nasty splits in the Merbu, we try to keep our joins as neat as possible and especially without splits as they show.
4. Decking and placing - We try to use as many long length boards as possible and stagger the joins so they are not all in the same spots. Having joins in the same spots looks unsightly.
5. Straightness and gapping- Decking boards must be nailed in a straight line and gaped evenly!! Many boards when purchased are usually not perfectly straight, most are straight but some are very badly bowed, this is usual. However when the decking is laid it is important to string line and push and pull the boards to obtain a reasonably straight line. Especially when deckings are long in length.
6. Nails - Important to use the correct nails so they DO NOT rust and boards lift or sub-floor collapses due to improper nails.
All these pointers are very important as we have come across many deckings which have been built very cheaply, we have on many occasions been called to jobs to repair imperfections and were amazed what we found.
We also build Timber or Stainless steel Handrails with timber slats or Stainless Steel Wire (as shown in pictures above.) and steps leading onto the decking for decks that are elevated from the ground. Timber slated seats, BBQ cabinets with opening doors and Planter boxes made from Merbu are also our specialty. We offer the full Alfresco Package.
Pergola's - You have the option of either flat or gable roof, ColorBond or Polycarbonate sheeting or both.
STEEL GATES- Single or double gates built to any size, Frame is made from steel tubing and lined with 70mm Merbau Screen material which is smooth both sides, or you can choose to line the gates with colorbond steel. ( As shown in photo above;)
