McLaughlin and Kraus, authors of the popular novel The Nanny Diaries, venture back to the 1980s in their third novel.

Kate Hollis fell in love with Jake Sharpe in grade school, dated him in high school, and at 30, has yet to get over him. How can she when Jake, now a rock star with several hit singles to his name, has spent the last 10 years singing about her and about their relationship? When Kate hears that Jake has returned to their hometown with his new fiancee in tow, she jumps on a plane, ready to confront him for exploiting their personal memories in his quest for superstardom. But when Kate sees him again, all her old feelings churn to the surface, and her resolve weakens further when she learns he feels the same. But just as the novel barrels toward what appears to be the most cliched of endings, the authors pull out a surprise and give the reader, and Kate, a completely unexpected and wholly satisfying conclusion.

With the movie version of The Nanny Diaries, expect considerable interest in the authors' latest outing.

*** SOFTCOVER BOOKS ***

Basically, there are two types of softcover books on the Australian market.

The term 'standard softcover' describes the normal style of soft binding, usually in the 110mm x 180mm format, sometimes called 'mass-market paperback'. The quality of standard softcover books varies considerably - those from established publishing houses such as ‘Penguin’ are generally superior. Where a standard softcover book merits, it is noted as being  ‘well-bound’ in the description.

The term 'trade softcover' describes a better quality binding and much heavier book, often with stiffened card covers. Trade softcovers are usually published in the 150mm x 230mm format but they can vary in size. Both standard and trade softcover books may be described as 'large' depending on the physical dimensions and number of pages.

*** BOOK CONDITION ***

AS NEW means what it says.

NEAR NEW means that the book shows signs of having been read but is in mint condition.

VERY GOOD means that there may be some minor cover & spine creases, lightly bumped corners, etc. -  but the book is sound with no other obvious defects.

GOOD means that the there are some moderate cover & spine creases, chipped edges, bumped corners and so forth, but that the book is sound with no loose or damaged pages.

We don’t offer books that have been badly used unless an item is relatively rare or out-of-print and then we describe it in some detail.

Where the condition of a listed book might be of particular importance, or if you simply want more information, please email us before bidding.
