CHRYSLER SIGMA HAND PAINTED WITH AUTO-PAINT & METALLIC POWDER

DRIP - PAINTED ORIGINAL

-  AN ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST CAR
BY ANNETTE SCHNEIDER

THE ONLY CAR ON E-BAY TO BE LISTED UNDER AUSTRALIAN MASTERS!

I PAINTED THIS CAR IN 1996. THERE WERE SEVERAL REASONS
FOR THIS ACTION - FIRSTLY, I LOATHE BORING CARS -
WHY DON'T CARS COME IN AS MANY PATTERNS AS FABRICS?
SECONDLY, I HAD JUST APPLIED TO THE CANBERRA SCHOOL OF ARTS
PAINTING DEPARTMENT TO DO A DEGREE COURSE.
THEY REFUSED ME ENTRY -
THEY SAID MY WORK WAS TOO COMMERCIAL.
I AM NOT A PERSON WHO TAKES REJECTION SERIOUSLY.
RIGHT, I THOUGHT, I'LL PROVE JUST HOW COMMERCIAL MY ART IS!
SO I BOUGHT AN OLD SIGMA WITH WORN OFF METALLIC PAINT,
STRIPPED IT DOWN, GOT A GOOD BASE-COAT SPRAYED ON
 AND REPAINTED IT WITH STYLE.
IT TOOK A LOT OF TIME BUT IT WAS GREAT FUN.
END RESULT - A CAR THAT MANY PEOPLE WOULD NOT BE SEEN DEAD IN!
IN 1997, WITH MY DRIP-PAINTED CAR PROMINENT IN MY FOLIO,
I GOT INTO THE SCHOOL OF ARTS WITH A CHOICE OF
WHICHEVER DEPARTMENT I WANTED TO WORK IN -
SO I GLEEFULLY CHOSE PAINTING AS MY MAJOR.
I PUT A RECONDITIONED ENGINE INTO MY SIGMA AND
IT WAS REGISTERED UNTIL 2003.
THE ONLY REASON THAT I TOOK IT OUT OF REGO WAS
THAT MY PARENTS VERY KINDLY GAVE ME A TOYOTA - VIENTA
AND  I  COULDN'T JUSTIFY HAVING TWO CARS REGISTERED.
I USED THE SIGMA AROUND THE PADDOCKS FOR A WHILE -
MY SON RAN INTO A STUMP AND DID IN THE
DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT [SEE PHOTOS]
THEN, ONE DAY, ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO,
THE CAR JUST REFUSED TO START IN
THE MORNING AND IT HAS NOT RUN SINCE.
WE KEEP TALKING ABOUT HIRING A CAR TRAILER AND
TAKING IT INTO OUR MECHANIC IN TOWN, BUT WE HAVE NEVER
GOT AROUND TO DOING IT AS WE REALLY DON'T NEED
ANOTHER RUNNING CAR. MY SON'S GRANDFATHER
FIDDLED WITH THE WIRING AND TRIED TO
JUMP START IT, BUT WITHOUT SUCCESS.
MY GUESS IS THAT SOMETHING WENT IN THE WIRING.
THE CAR HAS FIVE ORIGINAL SIGMA ALLOY WHEELS -
EACH OF THEM IS WORTH OVER $100
[BUT THEY ARE PAINTED]
2.6 LITRES
VIN / CHASSIS NUMBER = 6T153VK1OO923O586
ENGINE NUMBER = 3VZ1406341
THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD IN NON - DRIVING CONDITION,
ALTHOUGH I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF IT WAS
SOMETHING QUITE SIMPLE AND EASILY FIXABLE
WRONG WITH IT. IT'S MOTOR HAS NOT BEEN WORKED HARD
AND UNTIL IT WAS RETIRED, WAS ALWAYS SERVICED
REGULARLY BY OUR MECHANIC.
THE INTERIOR IS VERY SHABBY AND THE CAR HAS
BEEN SITTING IN THE PADDOCK FOR A FEW YEARS.
IT HAS A FEW DENTS AND SOME RUST AS IT HAS A
BOOT THAT DOESN'T LATCH AND LEAKING WINDOWS.
I AM NOT NECESSARILY SELLING IT AS A DRIVING PROSPECT
BUT AS AN ARTWORK!
IT IS EXTREMELY UNUSUAL AND ORNAMENTAL
AND THE PAINTWORK IS IN QUITE GOOD CONDITION.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED,
I TOOK LOTS OF PHOTOS.
PLEASE STUDY THEM WELL,
I THINK THEY SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.
TO ME, THIS VEHICLE IS ONE OF MY MAJOR ARTWORKS
AND I WOULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERED SELLING IT BEFORE NOW.
I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A GOOD HOME FOR IT, PREFERABLY
AN ART COLLECTION OR MUSEUM,
BUT IF SOMEONE WANTS TO RESTORE AND DRIVE
MY PAINTED CAR, THAT WOULD MAKE ME EQUALLY HAPPY.
PICK UP FROM US OR, IF YOU WISH, WE WILL ORGANISE TRANSPORT AND DELIVERY IN EASTERN AUSTRALIA FOR WHATEVER IS THE GOING COST.
