 This is a nice drum style carder made by Clemes and Clemes in Pinole, California. Their web site, http://www.clemes.com/,  states they have been making fine spinning supplies since 1970. All their products are made in the U.S.A. The frame is made of oak with a lacquer finish. It has a smooth rounded edges, and a wood tray for easy feeding of the fibers.My husband added a grip to the handle so it's easier on my hands, and carpal tunnel. It can be easily removed if you don't want it on there. These sell for $445.00 new. We have been using a home made belt since the original one broke. You can purchase a belt on the Clemes & Clemes web site for $20.00, including shipping.Their web site has information on the carder including how to make adjustments. Comes from a non smoking home. A: We count approximately 83 ppi. It's not marked on the carder and I didn't purchase it new. I think our count is correct, or very close though.It handles wool very nicely.
