No former owner markings in book itself, no foxing or other serious flaws. Book is in very good condition, covers clean and fresh, text pages are clean and unmarked throughout, binding is tight and spine intact without damage. Very nice copy.

David Dabydeen: SLAVE SONG Poetry. Acclaimed Caribbean writer, poet, critic and scholar. Winner of the 1984 Commonwealth Poetry Prize. David Dabydeen was born and raised on a sugar plantation in Guyana. He read English at Cambridge and London Universities, completing his doctorate in 1982. A selection of these poems was awarded the Quiller-Couch Prize, Cambridge University, 1978. From the review in the Caribbean Times: “A pioneering moment in black expression. He takes the Creole language to new depths, exploring the human psyche at the edge of ecstasy and breakdown.” A seminal book for those interested in or studying Caribbean literature, and other black colonial writing.
