Hand Carved Dayak Statues

Origin: Balikpappan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia (Borneo)

Material: Iron wood

Dimensions: Approximately 120cm tall

Weight: Approximately 50 kgs each

I collected these peices during my travels to Indonesia in the late 1990's. I found them out the back of a furniture shop in Balikpappan which is the capital and port city of East Kalimantan (formerly known as Borneo). I don't know exactly how old they are or who the artist is however they have been subject to weather over a number of years.

They are in good condition due to the nature of the wood from which they are carved and have no rot or borer issues.
