Up for bids is this fabulous pagoda shaped covered jar, C. 1940's in the style of James Mont or Tommi Parzinger. This piece is such a highly complex and sophisticated design- it had to have been designed by someone with great vision, but alas, there are no identifying marks of any kind. It is made out of white alabaster. It is beautifully carved into intricately detailed shapes for the lid and the vessel. The top has beautiful details: the stepped button from handle; the slightly concase wing like projection of the rim; the inset ring underneath that fits perfectly into the bottom. I could go on and on! I have taken lots of detailed pics to illustrate these beautiful details. The alabaster has a beautiful matte finish with light white veining throughout. Miraculously, the condition on this is pristine. There are no cracks, chips, repairs, fleabites, etc. The scale is great on this. Dimensions are: 7 1/4" Diam. x 6 1/2" H. This would make a great addition to any Hollywood Regency or deco inspired decorative arts collection!
