books with pictorial boards (no dust jackets) published by Greystone Press 1972
to 1973, total of 2524 pages with colour and black and white photographs and
illustrations throughout. For the first
time in a single home library set, Discovering Antiques: The story of world
antiques explores the whole vast panorama of the fascinating world of
antiques--the arts, crafts, styles and fashions from the Renaissance to the
twentieth century--from America, Belgium, Central Europe, England, France,
India, Ireland, The Netherlands, Persia, Russia, Scotland, Spain and
Turkey. The furniture; porcelain and
pottery; glass; gold, silver and metalwork; prints, posters and miniatures;
clocks, watches and barometers; jewelry and enamels; tapestries, textiles and
embroideries; arms and armour; and bric-a-brac of each nation and era are
described in great detail by the accepted authorities on each branch and period
of the decorative arts. (A vast work of 20 volumes. Volumes 19 and 20 contain a comprehensive
glossary of antique terms). This set is
in good condition. The covers are in
good condition. There is some wear to
the corners (some have bumping), edges and to the top and bottoms of the
spines. The spines all have some
yellowing and a few volumes have scratches to the spines. There is some shelf wear overall as well as
some marks and scuffs as well as some minor yellowing. The books themselves are in very good
condition, there are some minor marks to the outer edges. The front endpapers (of all volumes) have a name
and date written on them. There is some
minor yellowing of the pages. Overall
this set is in good condition, there is some wear to the covers. PLEASE NOTE: This 20 volume set is very heavy
(over 16.5 KG with packaging). Postage
