This GORGEOUS vintage AUBREY BEARDSLEY mirror is SUCH a rare find and will add INSTANT vintage glamour to your home ! It comes to you from the original owner in lovely condition with just the right amount of wear to the black wooden frame to give it vintage authenticity and LOADS of charm .. with no damage to the mirror to note.....SO GORGEOUS ! Its nice and big measuring approx 19 " x 25 " ( 49 cm x 64 cm ) and has a strong hardwood backing with hanging wire . It is stamped on the front of the mirror ...

JOHN & SALOME

AUBREY BEARDSLEY ( 1872 - 1898 )

and is further stamped on the back with the framing place and registered numbers

In a striking colour blend of black..grey ..silver and white , and with the added reflective boost from the mirror it has LOADS of Parisienne Parlour glamour and would make a lovely addition to any home ..particularly nice for the Elegant Formal or Paris Apartment style décor ..

ABOUT THE ARTIST ...

Aubrey Beardsley followed the Pre-Raphaelite Movement as a unique artist, drawing on many sources of inspiration to create his masterful black-and-white ink drawings. Beardsley painted only two known oil paintings in his lifetime, concentrating all of his talent and eager discipline towards his compositions filled with designs, patterns of decoration, caricatures, flowers, dots and bold curvaceous lines. He knew at a very young age that he would slowly die of tuberculosis, an incurable disease at the time. His clear and uncomplicated forms offset his wild subject matter of creatures of fantasy and caricatures of decadence. Some critics believe that Beardsley, like the Pre-Raphaelites, simply looks back to the past for inspiration. Originally following the Pre-Raphaelite's medieval and early Renaissance styles and then turning towards Baroque and Rococo influences. However, his attention to contemporary culture shines through all of his work, in style and subject, giving his distinct personal interpretation of Victorian life and culture.

Items will arrive packed VERY carefully from our smoke free home in clean, recycled grocery boxes which are free and save you money on new packaging … all other recycled packaging materials are free ! Friendly customer service is also free * LOL *

Because my items are so varied , to ensure you only pay what you have to it’s impossible to set a fixed post cost in the listing ( unless it’s a postal satchel ) as postage costs for boxes vary to each location. I’m happy to give postage quotes during the auction as a guide and I will happily combine items where possible to save you money * YAY *

ABOUT MY ITEMS ...

Although I mainly sell on e-bay, I love buying for myself so I understand both sides. I like to be reliable and make your trade easy & fast. Most things I sell are genuine vintage pieces which means they are not new, and may have some signs of wear. I like it that vintage pieces don’t look new as in most cases it’s the natural wear from time that adds vintage authenticity making things look even better… like chipped edges on paint… gently faded fabrics… and supersoft creased leather..or.. can be a minor and forgivable trade off for owning an AMAZING ONE OFF vintage piece. All these things are taken into consideration very carefully when choosing items for sale. I will describe the item as accurately as I can doing my best to include all the things you need to know.

Please feel free to ask any further questions as I’m more than happy to help … it’s much better to ask than assume, safeguarding us both against a misunderstanding. Should there be a problem with your item when it arrives and you find something has slipped past me, it won’t have been deliberate so please e-mail to let me know as soon as it arrives ..
