ORIGINAL EARLY AUSTRALIANA
“THE PARKINSON STOVE CO. (AUSTRALIA) PTY LTD”
CAST IRON “TINMAN No. 100” STOVE
I’ve owned this neat old cast iron stove for about 28 years, having bought it in Campbells Creek, Victoria. I’ve used it just as a decoration and it has always been undercover on our verandah.
As you will see from the dimensions below it is quite a small piece but it is certainly very heavy (approximately 17 kilograms). I guess, therefore, that it was not something you slung over the back of your horse and carried around with you for a quick boil of the billy!
I don’t know a lot about how to use it but the top round plate has a slot in it which you obviously use to lift it off. Inside the top plate there is a ceramic-type firebox. On the top of the stove there is a little round chimney. Looking from the front originally I expect there was a little drop down door (? to check the fire). This item is in totally original condition and as you can see from the pictures there is surface rust, which is not unexpected for its age.
On the front of the stove is “The Parkinson Stove Co (Australia) Pty Ltd and on the underneath of the top round plate is “Tinman No. 100”.
If I have neglected to put in any info that you are interested in, it is simply because I know so little about this item, but please don’t hesitate to email me with questions.
Dimensions are:

It falls within what is accepted by Australia Post (they have a maximum weight of 20 kilograms) though I may not get any bouquets from the Post Office staff! I am happy to make up a little wood pallet to sit it on inside a nice strong box.
