An EC meter measures the electrical conductivity of the water. Clean water has a low EC. When you add nutrients and pH adjusters, the EC will go up. You can use this for measuring how many nutrients can put in the water without causing overfertilization.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) are the total weight of all solids (minerals, salts, or metals) that are dissolved in a given volume of water, Expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L), or In parts per million (ppm).
The lower the TDS level in the water, the more efficiently you body's cells actually get hydrated by the water you drink. The higher the TDS level in the water, the greater the probability of harmful contaminants that can pose health risks of hinder the absorption of water molecules on the cellular level.

Operation:

• Remove the protective cap.
• Turn the meter on by pressing the ON key. Then press the "MODE" key, choose what measure you required. (In turn show "EC", "CF" "ppm" on the display)
• Immerse the electrode in the solution to be tested
• Stir gently and wait for the reading to stabilize.
• Press the "HOLD" key, the reading is kept. When repeat measuring, please press the "HOLD" key again, it automatically relieves the hold condition.
• After use, turn the meter off by pressing the OFF key. Rinse the electrode with distilled water to minimize contamination
• Always Replace the protective cap after use
