EF Johnson 2pF..14pF Airvane Trimmer Capacitor (Qty.5)

On offer are 5 new (old stock) vintage 14 pF airvane trimmer capacitors, by US manufacturer E.F. Johnson.

They are marked "T9-5 8043" and well made, with silver-plated vanes and connections mounted on a ceramic base.

Fully meshed the capacitance is ~15pF, falling to ~ 2pF when open. Adjustment is via a flat blade screwdriver or similar, no special tools required.

They're 0.6" (15mm) high with a 0.3" pin spacing.

I've used these for trimming crystal filters but they have a host of applications for the radio constructor. Beautifully made in a past age, a victim of economic rationalism. Somehow a little lump of red & white plastic just isn't the same (unless you're an electron) ...

Similar parts are still stocked by Ocean State Electronics in the US, and retail at $3.50 US each.
