"Every Woman's Complete Guide to Tatting Illustrated"
is a masterpiece by Norma Benporath OAM
Published in 1952 by Colorgravure (The Herald & Weekly Times) Melbourne, Australia, this superb hard cover book with dust jacket has 164 pages, more than 150 B/W photographs, 6 plates in full colour and more than 100 tatting designs.
From the dust jacket flap: "This unique and beautifully produced book...has been especially designed to present this age-old fascinating craft to both beginners and experienced enthusiasts. The author, Norma Benporath, one of the world's leading authorities, has spent a lifetime in the study and execution of tatting."
Ms Benporath supervised every stage of the book's creation and the photos are of her actual methods of working and the exquisite lace that she has fabricated. On January 26, 1988 Norma Benporath was honoured with an OAM (Order of Australia Medal) for her contribution to the art of tatting.
