    This Superb Authentic Old Afghan Turkoman Pile Rug has a Locally Grown, Hand Spun Wool Pile, Asymmetrically Hand Knotted to Hand Spun, Locally Grown Wool Warps and Wefts and Displays Finely Spaced, Primitively Drawn Tribal Main Guls of Ersari Turkoman Form Interspersed with Star Shaped Minor Ornaments and Surrounded By a Main Border of Suleyman Ersari Style Stepped Diamond Shape. The Weaving Style, Vegetable Dyed, Madder, Excellent Indigo and Small Amount of Saffron Yellow and Undyed Dark Black/Brown and White Wool as well as the Geometric Mirhab Design in the Outer Borders are Proof of an Origin in a Village Situation close to Kyzil Ayak in the Far North of Afghanistan in the 1940s. The Abrash in the Colours, Proving the Wool was dyed over a long Period of Time and the Non-symmetrical Proportions of the Rug show this Was Hand Knotted on a Horizontal Loom and a Household Situation and This is an Excellent, Rare and Superb Example of Traditional Tribal Afghan Weaving from this Region.

   This Genuine Old Afghan Turkoman Pile Rug from Kyzil Ayak in the Far North of Afghanistan Has Been Hand Washed, Measures 1.75m x 1.05m (5ft 9 inches x 3ft 5.4 inches), is a Heavy and Very Hard Wearing Rug which is Suitable for Use on the Floor in Any Household Situation where it will Last for Many, Many Years. It is in Very Good Condition for its Age with Good Pile, Original Goat Hair Sevledges and only minor signs of the years including some wear at the warp ends.
