Impressive & highly decorative eighteenth century Sevres porcelain ormolu mounted candlestick/ lamp c1775. The Sevres SOFT paste porcelain eighteenth century with a central cartouche exquisitely painted with a blue coat/ dress with a pink ribbon tied bonnet surrounded by an exquisitely tooled band of thick sumptuous gilt meandering foliage against a rich blue ground. The shoulders applied with rams head mounts trailing from fruiting vines beneath a spirally lobed column terminating at a platform with gadroon cast edges and rose finial. The base is stylistically comparable with a laurel surrounding the bottom of the column issuing from a square plinth base with canted corners. The previous owner has fitted a light bulb socket in the top (photographed with and without), this adaption has not done any damage to the piece and could easily be removed should the high bidder wish. However I must admit I was sorely tempted to hand onto this piece to use as a lamp on the dressing table in my bedroom, a great decorators piece for anywhere in the house. Stands 14 ½ inches tall (excluding light fittings) and in perfect condition with no damage. I offer this at an extremely competitive price and with no reserve. See my other quality antiques. It seems the photographs are of a higher resolution/ quality when viewed in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
