For auction is a striking set of 6 mouth blown amethyst-glass beer glasses or tumblers in excellent condition.  These glasses have an open 'bubble' in the base, similar to the famous Tapio Wirrkala designed glasses known simply as 'Tapio'; however, the top of the bubble does not broaden out so the opening has an intriguing cone shape.  The overall shape is very similar to the well known Holmegaard Canada glasses.  In the absence of a sticker, I would guess that these glasses are Scandinavian in origin.  They are very classy, high quality and beautifully mouth blown.  They stand an impressive 17 cm high and have a top diameter of 7.5 cm.  The glass in the heavy base comes up 5 cm. 

As can be seen, the colour is beautiful  -  I would describe it as more of a 'pink champagne' colour than 'amethyst'.  These are outstanding retro glasses; it is rare to find a complete set of 6 of such glasses.
