My parents operated a large gemstone business in Melbourne named 'Minex'. Over the years many treasures were collected and saved. My father now feels it is time to let these special pieces go & regularly brings me a bucket of his treasures that he kept from stock & asks me to clear them on eBay. Here's the general book auctions info:  I've had a bit of a clean up and we have so many books and related (new age & gemmological) items, so I'm listing them in several auctions (any that do not sell will be relisted - as store inventory within a few days of ending).

Over the years we have amassed 100's of gems, collectables & books - whilst I love them all (& they are fascinating) it's time for some to find a new home. Some are brand new from our showroom - others are from our personal collection and may have some general usage marks on them (any questions, please ask before bidding)

 

As books are quite heavy - the postal rates may be high (in Melbourne metro we can get up to 20kgs for $10 combined). Pop some more in your purchases to save on shipping costs.

• Grade 5-9–This oversized novelty book has a gold cover with red, plastic, "jewel" inlays to add to the drama. Written as an amateur Egyptologist's travel journal from 1926, each spread covers a distinct area of antiquity and is mainly factual in content, except for the author's chatty asides. The type resembles that of an old manual typewriter and the photos, reproductions, and sketches make the journal seem more realistic. There are papyrus pull-outs, pop-up art, minibooks, and fold-out maps and an envelope in the back with period postcards, ticket stubs, etc
  
• Gr. 3-6. Bound in gold and embellished with ruby-red "jewels," this follow-up to Dr. Ernest Drake's Dragonology (2003)--which, like Dragonology, credits a fictional character as its author, leaving those responsible for its written content unacknowledged--purports to be the scrapbook of an amateur archaeologist gone missing during the height of 1920s Egyptomania. As in Dragonology, pull-out documents, sundry flaps, and other novelty elements (including a "sample of mummy cloth" and a game of Egyptian checkers) will have children breathlessly anticipating each page turn. 
  
• This is a great book for kids who enjoy interactive creative reads. The extras are always nice to accompany these books. The Egyptology book was snapped up by my students and they loved it. It was quite enjoyable to them and they read more than they often do in books. The big eye was really interesting to them. 
  
• My sister loved this book. It is beautifully drawn, illustrated, and written. There are many wonderful pull outs and the budding archaeologist in our family loved it.

• This is a great book to introduce kids to ancient egypt history. It is fun and easy to read. The cover is interesting and attractive. My son likes this book a lot and is using it to support basic facts in a school project. 
  
• This book is one of the most memorable presents I have given to my sister. It is really good for young kids because it includes lots of mysteries that the reader has to solve. The pages are extremely beautiful and original and the book really looks fancy. I haven't read it, however my sister is fascinated by it and has requested other books from the series. 
  
• I love the 'Ology books. This is fun, beautifully done, there is a game included, it is supposed to be the discovery of an old journal of a trip to Egypt and the search for the tomb of Osiris. The back of the book has little tags and things in it, the journal story is an adventure.
  
  On a side note, recently, the tomb of Osirus was discovered underground and I got a photo drawing of how it looked before it got waterlogged, and put that in my book for fun.
  
• This is a great book. My son got it for Christmas and loves it. We originally saw it in a Borders book store(price was alot more than at Amazon)and my son looked at it for almost an hour while we shopped. He just loved all the postcards and drawings and heiroglyphs that are on just about every page. The book is written as a journal from an amatuer Egyptologist who goes on a journey looking for what they believe is the tomb of Osiris. The whole expedition disappears and years later her niece has the journal published. You'll love all the little letters, cards and drawings that are inside and makes the book come to life. The ology series is fantastic. My son also has the Dragonolgy book which he loves as well. He really enjoys these books and is already asking for Piratology and Wizardology. I think this is a great book for kids since they really get into reading the book.
