Fine English Oak Carved floral Biscuit Barrel EP Silver Mounts

A fine example of an English carved oak ‘Barrel’ style antique biscuit barrel. These were popular ca 1910-20 but most were rather plain in style. This example features some truly beautiful hand carved floral decorations in high relief as shown. A plated silver trim to base and rim, lid and an engraved cartouche. I do need to report that the little ring that holds the metal handle has broken off at one side. The handle can be made to sit in the correct position whilst obviously the handle cannot be used. This could be repaired if desired whilst it detracts little on general display. The silver plating is very dull in places and would benefit greatly from a polish (I polished the cartouche which came up nicely.) A ceramic insert is in pristine condition- and the barrel could be returned to use if desired!
