European Fan Palm
(Chamaerops Humilis)
10  seedlings

Chamaerops Humilis is one of the most cold hardy of all ornamental palms.   The wonderful triangular, fan shaped leaves are deeply divided into multiple segments, and  vary greatly in colour - from blue-grey to grey-green to greenish yellow.  In most cases, the suckers sent up will form clumps, although occasionally they will be single trunked.  They will withstand frost, and even the occasional snow,  but tolerate heat as well, although they are not really suited to the tropics.    They are reasonably fast growing, and drought resistant .

They often have a multi trunked habit, and are useful as a sceening plant, having a wide spread of foliage. They have sharp, needle like spines on the leaf stems, like most fan palms.

The European Fan Palm grows to anywhere between 2 and 6 metres high, in full sun or part shade in well drained soil.  They like moderate water, and a couple of applications of fertiliser in the warmer months will encourage a healthy palm.  They can also tolerate seaside plantings, provided they do are not directly affected from salt spray.

This is one tough plant - ideal for the beginner.  They are even tougher than the Canary Island Date but a quite a bit smaller.  They look fantastic when planted in clumps, and makes a great palm for pots.

This sale  is for 10 seedlings  with 1-2  leaves about about 10-20cm long   with 4 lots of 10 avaible   . Plants will be sent bare rooted . Any questions, please ask. Happy bidding.
