Buddhism is based on non-violence, compassion and charity. It developed from the teachings of Gautama Buddha, who was born Prince Siddhartha of the Shakya clan in what is now known as Nepal. He later came to be known as Shakyamuni. He gave up his privileged lifestyle to seek an existence that would be free from suffering for all sentient beings. He taught this throughout his life. He formulated the Four Noble Truths, the Law of Interdependency (everything exists through dependency on other things) and karma.

After a lifetime of teaching and sharing his knowledge and wisdom, Gautama Buddha ate some spoiled food, lay down on his right side, and entered Nirvana. The Reclining Buddha symbolises this enlightened moment of Shakyamuni's soul leaving his physical body. His face is without fear or worry and a slight benevolent smile and gentle curved brows are upon his face. He is free from all kinds of misery, while knowing he spent his life helping others to overcome suffering and to become better people.

Cast in Shaoshan stone (resin with crushed marble), this figurine is finished with an attractive antique bronze look and is nicely detailed. It comes attractively gift boxed, complete with a note explaining its meaning and significance.

All customers: We pack all items carefully to minimise the risk of damage in transit. If you have any problems with delivery please contact us.

If you are unhappy with your purchase simply contact us within 5 days of delivery to arrange a Return Authorisation.

All returned stock must be undamaged and fit for re-sale in its original packaging. A store credit or refund will be issued after the stock is returned. A restocking fee may apply.

The cost of return postage is the responsibility of the buyer, and registered post is required for all returns. Original postage and handling costs are non-refundable.
