CREATED 1890 to 1910
This Authentic Antique Caucasian Pile Rug from Seichur in the Kuba Region of the Caucasus Mountains has a Hand Spun Wool Pile Symmetrically Hand Knotted to Hand Spun Wool Warps and Hand Spun Red Wool Wefts with Both Sides of the Knot Laying Flat and Displays and Excellent Balance in the Cross Type Main Motifs with Finely Drawn Flowers and Very Unusual Main Border Well Proportioned Flower Motifs. This Superb Drawing and Some Fine Vegetable Dyes Date it to the Turn of the 20th Century most Likely in the 1890s and it is a rug for Serious Collectors and Knowledgeable Dealers or Decorators so there is Little Else needs to be Said About It.
Measuring 2.18m x 1.4cm (7ft 2 inches x 4ft 9 inches) it has Been Hand Washed, is in Good Condition for its Over 100 Years of Age with Corrosion in the Black Dyed Areas as Expected from a Vegetable Dyed Black, The Typical Braided Warp End Treatments Mostly Intact and Wear at the Selvedges and small areas of pile. It is Still Suitable for Use on the floor in a Household Situation and Offers an Excellent Tangible Investment Opportunity in These Uneasy Times of the Paper Based Financial Market as well as Being Suitable for Use on the Floor in A Household Situation.
