This is a medium size tote handbag with zipper and double strap. It will sit underneath the armit.

This bag is wide at the top (28 cm length) and narrow at the base (17 cm length) and 24 cm height.

The handbag is turquoise while the small rectangular base is "aqua", it has a zipper and a turquoise lining with small interior pocket.

Each bag features different embroidered techniques. You will definitively draw attention when wearing this gorgeous folk art bag.

About these gorgeous folk art bags:

Victor and his wife spend many hours making these gorgeous folk art bags. Briefly, they dye the sheep wool with natural dyes, and when the wool is dry they start weaving the bag on an Andean hand loom. The tote handbags take a bit longer to make because they have to cut and sew the lining and the zipper, and the hand embroidery is prior to the sewing. They hand embroidered gorgeous flowers with vibrant colour and lots of texture on the front of the bag. Each bag is unique because the flowers and colours vary according to their inspiration and mood. This tote handbag has short straps and is designed to sit underneath the armpit.

About the artist:

Victor Paredes and his wife are weavers from Ayacucho. They were introduced to me several years ago by the tenacious Gavina Tealdo, head of the reputable "Peru Pra Project" (Poverty Reduction and Alleviation Project) in Ayacucho. I have been working with them since then and enjoy visiting them and see all their new weavings in person. In working with the project Victor gained experienced dealing with the high demands of the international market. The project aimed at connecting the artisans with international companies and helping them to become economically independent. The project accomplished their goals and is closed now. Fortunately, the business relationship and friendship between the Paredes (and other artisans) and myself is going strong. Our dealings are based on quality, beauty of the product and trust. Victor also trains young weavers and give work to women in his community to help him with the different stages of the weaving process. I visited them recently and couldn't not pass the chance to buy these gorgeous handwoven and hand embroidered bags. I am sure I will be getting more soon as they are all a beauty!.
