Double Salmon hooks successfully catch more fish!

 

As well as salmon flies, many types of flies for various fish species can be dressed on double hooks.

 

Double hooks have twice the weight of a similar sized single hook and lately some of the more successful lure trolling anglers (behind a motorised boat) have recently started dressing "fly-droppers" on double hooks to run in front of their lure. Double hooks are effective "keels" thereby keeping the fly upright.

 

These black, up eyed double hook are produced from one piece of wire doubled back in the shank of the hook where it is brazed together. The wire diameter and shape of the hook is a classic "low water" style salmon hook.
