The skein pictured above is the actual skein you will receive.

This yarn is a byproduct of the colourful saris manufactured in India. The ends trimmed from the looms are collected and sent to Nepal to be spun by village women into this colourful yarn. The waste is hand spun on the Charkha Wheel which produces a tightly spun single yarn.

This yarn is made mostly from actual fabric pieces that have been spun up and is not as soft as the yarn made from the left over sari fibre.

Because of the method of producing this yarn each skein is unique, it is not created in dye lots. When using more than one skein it is best to alternate balls for a beautiful variegated look. The continuously changing jewel tones and textures of this yarn will produce unique results when knitted up.

The yarn can be knitted on 4 MM needles up to 10 MM all depending on the desired garment finish. Use a tighter tension to made up bags or rugs or a looser tension for sweaters, scarves or ponchos. This yarn lends itself beautifully to be combined with other yarns to give dramatic effects.

Because of the construction of the yarn the length for 100 grams does vary but is approximately 43 metres or 48 yards for those knitters who work using length.
