FAEMA E61 1 GROUP LEVER ESPRESSO CAPPUCCINO MACHINE, 1968 MODEL
Hello and welcome to my auction. I am clearing out my collection of 60's coffee machines. This one is quite a survivor. The bodywork and plexiglass cup warmer shield are all original and I have not restored them. The front glass is also an original factory painted glass, unlike many restored E61's. This machine is ready to use as is, and will be the hot topic of conversation at your next dinner party!
I have had the machine stripped down and cleaned, new seals put in, and added a flourescent tube to the front under the glass. I have had the electrics tested and the wires renewed. This machine will plug into a standard household socket, and hence would make a perfect addition to your kitchen, bar or dining area. Parts are readily available to service your machine here in Australia, so rest assured it will have many happy years of use in your home. Ideally the machine would be plumbed to a water supply to fill the boiler.
Being a lever machine, it does not require an electric pump like the standard E61 machines. The pressure to extract espresso is provided by pulling down the lever and letting the piston push the water through the coffee. This makes a beautiful cup of espresso as you would expect from a commercial machine, and allows the barista to fine tune the shot by adjusting coffee grind and tamping pressure.
Being original, there are signs of use on the machine. The plexiglass windshield has a little heat warpage (noticable but not severe). I did not swap it out with a tinted reproduction to maintain the originality, but do have a new one available if the winner would like to purchase it. The body work is nice and straight, no corrosion and the chrome/stainless steel still shine nicely. Internally it has a stainless steel boiler, and the mercury tilt switch has been replaced for a pressurestat. Please refer to the photos. The front light is a flourescent tube which is a sealed unit unlike the original ones.
Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. I try to be as accurate as possible with my descriptions (hence my 100% feedback rating) and am always happy to answer questions. I can deliver the machine locally to you or a courier/transporter for a fee. Alternatively I can request a removalist quote for you. I am ok with you organising pickup of the machine, and will work within reason to be here if the machine is to be picked up. The machine has a sealed plywood crate which will protect it during shipping. International Bidders - I am happy for you to organise a shipping agency and to deliver it for them locally for a fee. I will post the dimensions of the crate, and an estimated weight shortly. Please advise if you would like insurance quoted for the machine also.
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! I have two more restored machines which I will list shortly - a 1 group E61 and a 2 group E61 also so please keep your eyes open for one of these if you would prefer the E61 group head.
