Featured in the antiques&art in NSW magazine May-Sept 09 and also in Alan Carters 2010 Price Guide to Antiques & Collectables.
I n 1968, the fg 2005rocking chair was made as part of an exclusive and unique collection of fibreglass furniture. It was specifically developed, designed and manufactured for an experimental fibreglass house (fg 2000) created by German manufactured and designer Wolfgang Feierbach (b. 1937). This prototype was the model for domestic residences that Feierbach went on to build. It incorporated design elements ahead of its time and is a model for innovative concepts that is still applicable in the 21st century. The house, unchanged by time, was converted into Feierbach’s offices in 2003.
Feierbach acknowledges the design to an apprenticed student and explains that the stand up rocking function is due to a heavy weight made up of 50 kg iron powder mixed with polyester resin which is then cast into the base in the form of a cut out egg-shaped shell. In the bottom area, the egg shape is flattened for a width of about 30 cm, so the rocking motion is confined to a two-way direction. The ergonomic design relies on the sitter’s arms and legs for balance and rocking. The chair was upholstered in a range of materials including Tuscan lamb fur. These chairs are upholstered in black vinyl¦.
We came across this pair of rockingchairs through a liquidation sale. Immediately we thought these chairs were special, as we had never seen anything like them before. After months of research, and a chance email from a dealer friend in the UK, the chairs’ manufacturing information came to light. You can view them at the

As the photos show there are some scuff marks consistant with age as well as one of the seats has a small tear (about 1.5cm long) but as the vinyl is hard wearing this tear has not increased in size at all over the years, as per the email below also.
