Fibre-Barked Wattle
Acacia inophloia
This plant is not on the Australian noxious weed list.
A native of West Australia in a small area, halfway on a line from Perth to Esperance. It is drought hardy and will tolerate frosts down to minus 7 degrees C.
This tree is adaptable in cultivation if given a sunny, open position and a reasonably well drained soil.
A large, upright, evergreen shrub or small tree growing to 4 metres; the bark is brown, loose and fibrous on the main stem; the phyllodes (leaves) are unusually terete (finely cylindrical) and 10 cm long; the flowers are brilliant yellow, rod-shaped occurring in spring.
