Three fine early examples of Solomon Island weaving with natural dyes brought back to Australia by a returned serviceman after WWII. They were put in a cupboard and forgotten about until recently so they are in the same condition as when collected. There's a few holes and unraveling on them but the dye is extremely good and unfaded. The two predominately red bags have plain woven inserts. Any one interested in Oceanic textiles would find these of interest and appreciatethe work that must have gone into making them. There are several similar examples in the SA Museum collection The red bags measure 34cm across. Paypal, direct deposit prefered payment options. $25 to send well packed anywhere in Australia. |
