A very interesting and extremely rare transitional Victorian Aboriginal spear thrower with traditional carved designs. Collected at Murndul Station near Hamilton, Victoria in the late 1800's and most likely made on or near the property. The owners of the property had a long history of philantropy with the local Aboriginal people. Previously on display at a regional Museum in South Western Victoria. Full provenance will be given to the purchaser. Original condition with trace of applied natural pigment and some age wear from handling. A few old inactive borer holes. Measures 69cm across.
