Well the good news is that Clare and I stopped off at Brumbys on Sunday and both of us thought that our casting had improved considerably. Clare in particular felt that she was in control and that she was casting further with more accuracy and less fuss. Thank you for working on both of our back casts.
We both really enjoyed last Thursday and think you are onto a winner. We really appreciated the patient way that you talked us through everything from getting the best out of our equipment to releasing fish. It was great to work on skills knowing that you were casting to trout. While it is always a fabulous moment when you see a fish take a fly, it is just as informative to see a refusal. What was special was having an expert commentary all the way through the process. We learnt so much in one day and had great fun. We will have no hesitation in recommending your services to others and after we have spent the summer consolidating our new skills we would like to get back in touch. A day on Meadowbank or Bronte is a tempting prospect.
Thanks also for the photographs which came out really well.
Cheers Hamish
mike,
i have just made it to my (future) in-law's in canberra and have internet access to send this to you. sorry for taking so long! i have just had a chance to check out your very professional website, and i have got to say, it's looking real good, especially the photo gallery!! i just want to reiterate how much i had a great time with you that day, and i am really looking forward to my next fishing expedition, and perhaps that is the best indication for you of the time i have had?
as for a quotable feedback:
As a complete novice at fly fishing, I was really unsure how much I could get out of just one lesson with Mike Tanner, but by mid-morning, the day was already exciting and really fun. I found it so easy to learn from Mike's careful instructions and observations and by the end of the day, I had caught a handful of fish! Mike oozes with experience but he was always able to keep the lessons down to the level that I needed. I could thoroughly recommend him, not just for the lessons he gives, but for the whole experience you have with him throughout the day. I only wish I had more time in Tasmania to spend with him.
many thanks for everything,
phil
Watcha Mike, Thank you for the pics, it was very thoughtful of you to take the trouble to send them. It is unbelievably cold here at the present, the average day time temperature is 4º so I won't be casting a fly for a while. I am glad you are busy and the trips have been productive. I had a great time fishing with you and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your consideration and sensitivity.
Take care mate Regards Brian.
Hi Mike, We just went through the pictures you sent us and all were having a good laugh. We all want to thank you for your expertise and a great lunch and a fun day. Kerrie and I arrived home this morning by ship to find many trees down from storm damage during the night, quite a wild night,it was a little rough coming home but nothing like what we saw this morning. Any how Mike take care of your self and regards to your wife Jackie. regards Brenda."
Hi Mike Thank you very much for the photos, we enjoyed reliving our memories of our fly fishing day together. They are just great. We wanted to thank you again for a wonderful day. I wasn't that keen on fly fishing initially before I went on the trip and was only doing it to accompany my husband. However, I had a great day, rain, wind sun and all. I really enjoyed learning how to fly fish, and now understand why my husband used to get such a kick when he caught a fish on the fly rod. It is FABULOUS!!! My husband also enjoyed the day immensely, learned a few new things about flies, and techniques and not to mention the woollybugger. Thanks again, we'll keep an eye on the website for products, and hopefully we'll see you again one day. Mayda
