From the Folio Society, this is Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire in eight volumes, edited and introduced by Felipe Fernandez-Armesto, published in 2003 (copyright 1987).  The set comes in two slipcases:  volumes 1-4 together, and volumes 5-8 together.  The first set is still in the publisher's shrink wrap (torn at the perforation, but not in danger of falling off), so the books are in perfect condition.  Volumes 5-8 are all in great condition, with a little shelf wear on the slipcase (one tiny bumped place on one seam) and minimal wear on the spines, strong & crisp hinges and bindings (they all feel unread), and clean pages.

Volume I: The Turn of the Tide
Volume II: Constantine and the Christian Empire
Volume III: The Revival and Collapse of Paganism
Volume IV: The End of the Western Empire

Volume V: Justinian and the Roman Law
Volume VI: Mohammed and the Rise of the Arabs
Volume VII: The Normans in Italy and the Crusades
Volume VIII: The Fall of Constantinople and the Papacy in Rome

Please check back often - we will be listing items as quickly as possible.  We are a nationally recognized charity.  We describe items as best we can - we would rather receive a lower price by pointing out every flaw than incorrectly describe an item just to obtain a higher selling price.

CHARITY AUCTION!! 100% of the net proceeds support Books For America - we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC.  Books for America distributes books and more to organizations in the United States serving needy communities and people. Recipients of donated books and more include hospitals, inner-city schools, assisted living communities for seniors, adult literacy programs, veterans hospitals, youth centers, women's shelters, prisons, hospices, and more.

We obtain books and more through donation drives in communities like yours. We occasionally obtain items that would be of more value to collectors and others than to our recipients, and sometimes simply take a small quantity of donated items and sell them on eBay - proceeds from this sale will help finance the organization's program costs.
Thank you!    BID HIGH - IT'S FOR CHARITY!!!!
