Ford EF EL Rear Console and Front Footwell Light Kit
Suits all GLI, Futura, XR6 models
One of the best and quickest mods for your Ford - lights up the area around your feet for easier entry/exit and gives that classy look.
This kit does NOT run the pick up point from the ignition key illumination light (too much hassle). The pickup point is from the centre console connector located behind the cigarette lighter by using pins inserted into the connector. This works for all models - see below . The pins are supplied as part of the kit.
By using this point we get the full light functions provided by the BEM:
-
Doors opened - lights on
-
Doors closed and ignition switched on - lights off
-
Doors closed and no ignition on - lights fade to off
-
Doors closed and Smartlocked - lights off
I also supply a modified hauling cable so there's no need to remove the console, gearshift surround or front console insert. So the complete console wiring and globe holder are effortlessly installed. The only part to remove here is the cupholder/window switch assembly which is easily accessed with 2 screws.
Naturally, the radio/ashtray surround must be removed. But this is quite simply done by removing one screw. I found it helpful to remove the glove box when installing the passenger side socket/wiring. Of course the positive battery terminal needs to be disconnected before installation - safety first!!!
So what's in the kit............
-
3 sections of cable with globe holders attached (soldered and heatshrink insulated) - passenger front, driver front and rear console
-
3 globes (3 Watt rating as recommended by Ford)
-
Rear console lens
-
2 pins and attached wiring for the connector
-
2 crimp joiners
-
2 small lengths of heatshrink tubing
-
Modified hauling cable
-
Instuctions and pictures for installation
All parts are brand new except for the globe holders/connector pins. I use good quality second hand ones.
Before you bid........
Take 10 mins to remove the radio surround and check the wiring connector behind the lighter - there should be a green/yellow and a black/blue wire in the socket side and located next to each other (as per the picture below).................................. Found them??.....................................................................now you're ready to go.
No soldering, wire cutting/stripping - all the hard work has been done for you. Installation takes about an hour. Tools needed are a phillips head screwdriver, pliers, hairdryer (for heat shrink tubing) and a small amount of electrical tape.
