Francis Lymburner Fifty Drawings BOOK Australian Art

Fifty Drawings by Francis Lymburner (“Present Day Art in Australia” series) by Francis Lymburner with an introduction by Edgar Kaufmann.  Hardcover book (no dust jacket) published by Ure Smith 1946, unpaginated all illustrations are single sided and are black and white.  Francis Lymburner was born in Brisbane, Queensland, in 1916. An award-winning student, his early art studies were at the Brisbane Technical College in 1934-36. Lymburner exhibited solo for the first time at Notanda Galleries, Sydney, in 1941, and was conscripted into the army in 1942. (He was discharged two years later.) A member of ‘The Sydney Group’ along with fellow artists Paul Haefliger, Donald Friend and Justin O’Brien, among others, he was added to the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection in 1951, and held numerous exhibitions before leaving for London in 1952. Returning to Australia in 1964, he continued to exhibit widely, until a brain haemorrhage left him unfortunately paralysed on one side.  This book is in fair condition.  The cover is in fair condition.  There is wear to the edges, corners (bumping) and to the top and bottom of the spine.  There are quite a few marks and scuffs as well as a few scratches and stains.  The cover is looking worn and aged.  The book itself is in good condition.  There are a few minor marks, some foxing and some wear to the outer edges.  There is some wear to the corners (left hand corners have slight creasing throughout… bumping?). The front and back endpapers have some slight foxing as well as a few of the pages, there are a few very minor marks as well (minimal).  The fr4otn endpaper has been cut across the top right hand corner, probably to remove a name, there is a booksellers sticker on the front endpaper as well.  There is some yellowing of the pages.  Overall a fair copy, there is some wear.

Postage costs are Australia Post prices http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/   I do not charge for packaging (as I use recycled packaging), or for handling.  Any questions regarding the item or postage costs please email me before bidding.  All questions are welcome.

At the end of the auction I will send you an invoice with postage this may take a few hours (or minutes) depending on my schedule.  Please do not pay until I have sent you an invoice.

I post up to 5 times a week, excluding Saturday and Sunday.   I generally post within 24 hours of receiving payment (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Multiple purchases are welcome.

AUSTRALIAN BUYERS (postage within Australia):

Books can be heavy.

0 to 250g   Items under 250g will be posted as a parcel or a large letter depending on size.  This means postage will be between $1.10 and $4.35.

250g to 500g   Postage will be $5.60

500g +  A parcel post satchel (up to 3kg) is $9.90 to anywhere within Australia.  This is the cheapest option for items over 500g or multiple items interstate (usually 3 to 4 books depending on size).  Within Victoria postage is cheaper depending on where you are.  For large items, heavy or multiple items please email me for a price on postage.

Pick up is possible by arrangement.

Books can be heavy. This can mean that postage on a book will be expensive.  Please please please email me before bidding if you have any concerns.  I offer sea mail postage on most items to most destinations where possible (not Italy).  SEA MAIL will take up to 12 WEEKS excluding delays.
