Ure Smith 1946, unpaginated all illustrations are single sided and are black
and white.Francis Lymburner was born in
Brisbane, Queensland,
in 1916. An award-winning student, his early art studies were at the BrisbaneTechnicalCollege
in 1934-36. Lymburner exhibited solo for the first time at Notanda Galleries, Sydney, in 1941, and was
conscripted into the army in 1942. (He was discharged two years later.) A
member of ‘The Sydney Group’ along with fellow artists Paul Haefliger, Donald
Friend and Justin O’Brien, among others, he was added to the Art Gallery of New
South Wales collection in 1951, and held numerous exhibitions before leaving
for London in 1952. Returning to Australia in 1964, he continued to
exhibit widely, until a brain haemorrhage left him unfortunately paralysed on
one side.This book is in fair
condition. The cover is in fair condition. There is wear to the edges,
corners (bumping) and to the top and bottom of the spine.There are quite a few marks and scuffs as
well as a few scratches and stains.The
cover is looking worn and aged.The book
itself is in good condition. There are a few minor marks, some foxing and
some wear to the outer edges. There is some wear to the corners (left
hand corners have slight creasing throughout… bumping?). The front and back
endpapers have some slight foxing as well as a few of the pages, there are a
few very minor marks as well (minimal).The fr4otn endpaper has been cut across the top right hand corner,
probably to remove a name, there is a booksellers sticker on the front endpaper
as well.There is some yellowing of the
pages. Overall a fair copy, there is some wear.
