 Title: "Frangipani Dusk" ARTIST'S STATEMENT At the end of a long tiring day the colourful soft glows of evening echo over the fragrant blooms of the frangipani. Artworks of floral arrangements need to capture the life within the subject matter. They lend themselves to fluid line, organic shape and a wonderful selection of colour. All of the frangipani / plumeria featured in this series are modelled from live specimens and attention is paid to the structure of the blooms and how they grow. This image is one from a series of digitally produced artworks on the theme of the Frangipani flower. The frangipani plant appearing in it is sculpted by myself in virtual 3D space. A combination of photographic and hand painted textures are applied to these constructed models. The textured models are then arranged in a composition. Lighting effects similar to a traditional photo-studio work are applied to this composition which is then render as a 2D image. The rendered image is often touched-up by hand prior to printing. The Plumeria is a West Indian plant, also known as a Frangipani, which is named after the inventor Marquis Frangipani. As a child My bedroom window overlooked two frangipani trees (a white and pink variety). Then when I married and moved into my new home I took a cutting from each tree and planted them in our garden. They now tower over our front rooms offering shade relief in the hot Australian summer mornings. During the day they are often filled with sparrows flitting around after insects, and at night they often host big green tree frogs. ORIGINAL ARTIST PRINTS Printed on high quality 240gm 100% cotton, acid-free, archival, fine art paper. A3 size (29.7 x 42cm). These prints are the artwork's original physical form, NOT reproductions. This is an original art work which was created digitally, through virtual 3 dimensional sculpting directly onto a computer, the models are my own original creations. The process of creating an art image digitally restricts the physical presentation of the artwork to printed form. So like wood blocks, etchings, screen printing and photography, it is not possible to have any other physical representation. Each print comes with a signed certificate of Authenticity directly from the artist along with a written artist statement about the image that you are purchasing. MATERIAL QUALITY Includes a signed certificate of authenticity which includes an artist statement. Posted flat, sandwiched between thick cardboard so that it will NOT be rolled or creased. ARTIST QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE Di holds an Art Certificate (Tafe 2 years full time) & a Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts (University 3 years full time) and has been a practicing artist for 18 years. She has won numerous international art contests. Her former employment includes Artist-In-Residence and Private Art Tutor for a community center and an Art Teacher for a children's resource unit.
