Shipping and Insurance: The shipping cost for this item to the US, Canada and worldwide, by Colissimo International  will be $27.50 which includes a Tracking number from the French post until delivery and delivery against your signature. Delivery time will be a maximum of 8 to 10 days by this service.

 We make every effort to charge the actual cost  charged to us by the French Postal System, with a tiny percentage for packing and handling, but because the dollar/euro/pound exchange rates constantly flucuate it is impossible to be absolutely precise. Shipping by the French Post Service  has been 100% reliable so far. Very few of our clients actually request insurance and to date, and all the items we have shipped here in France and abroad have arrived. Again may I emphasize that we have had 100% success with French shipping--to 15 countries Worldwide-- from  this store and from our other eBay store, FRENCH VINTAGE LINENS AND ANTIQUES (please see Feedback) and that the majority of our clients do not request insurance.

Please note however that naturally and understandably we cannot be responsible for damage to, or loss of your uninsured items in transit. Your purchase of this item assures us that you understand and agree to this policy. If you require insurance for your parcel, notify us before making payment  for rates.

We wish it were less expensive to ship and insure From France to the US, Canada, Japan and other international destinations, but we charge rates that reflect our actual costs, very often absorbing some of the shipping costs ourselves. Many of the items we sell here at Broctique Vintage French Antiques are bulky and/or fragile and quality packing materials are an extra expense for us, but we take Pride in our Very Careful Packing of all the items we ship. As well, it has been from the beginning, and continues to be, our policy not to profit on shipping charges and to keep them as reasonable as possible.

Returns: We hope, and even expect, that you will be satisfied with your purchase, but if for any reason you are not, please return the item in described condition--unless Insured within 14 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price. All shipping costs remain the responsibility of the buyer. We have chosen to add this proviso to our return policy regarding breakable items: WE WILL BE ABLE TO ACCEPT RETURNS ONLY IF THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN INSURED FOR SHIPMENT BY US  TO YOU AND FOR THEIR RETURN SHIPMENT TO US. Insurance for shipment from France to the US for this fragile and rare item will be $5.00 additional. If you wish insurance please  let us know before you make payment, so we can add it to your Invoice.

Notes on our Pricing and our ‘Make an Offer’ option

We price our items according to our buy-in costs, (which are ever increasing for most of these items), as well as taking into account rarity, condition and demand for these vintage and antique French items. Also we must take into account our eBay and Paypal fees, packing materials costs, shipping costs from France worldwide which are almost always more than we charge--but eBay scolds us if  they think we charge too much--ie our actual shipping costs. We do not complain about any of this.

We enjoy our business, and on the whole we think eBay is Wonderful,  but as well this is a ‘real’ business for us. We are a fully legal and licensed business in France which entails even more expense-- we pay fees for running a business and we actually report our eBay earnings and pay taxes on them.  Important to us is that our eBay business is an integral part of our livelihood so we work hard seeking out new things for our customers as well as doing all the admin. work necessary to running a business.

We know that eBay attracts many kinds of buyers for our items including knowledgeable collectors willing to pay ‘the going price’ for what they are seeking,  businesses like us who re-sell and especially many shoppers simply looking for special things for their home at reasonable prices.

That is why we include the ‘Make an Offer’ option on nearly all our items. Instead of posting ‘Sales’ from time to time we allow our customers to suggest to us what they are willing and/or  are able to pay for an item at any time.  We appreciate all offers made to us.  Sometimes we may make what we consider a reasonable counter-offer.
But always we consider ‘reasonable offers’ and almost always, we accept them.
By ‘reasonable’ we mean an offer that allows us to cover our costs and  also make a reasonable small profit.
