This beautiful 'Hana Kanzashi' Hair Ornament is a REAL, FULL-SIZED one actually made for the Maiko of Gion when performing their famous dances. It depicts a large purple & white 'Kikyo' or Bell Flower and bud. This is a classic item worn in the front of a Maiko's hair. It is beautifully made of real silk in double layers with a long fork to fasten it in your hair. It measures 9" (22 cm) long and the flower itself is about 4.5" (11 cm) wide. It came from a shop called KINTAKEDO which is located in the heart of Kyoto's Gion Kobu, Hanamachi District that has over a 100 year history of supplying Kanzashi to the Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu. Heirloom quality - Hand made in Kyoto by skilled craftsmen. It comes in a lovely box for storage. As is is quite valuable, it will be shipped by EMS for safety and speed.
