Very good condition
GEC (General Electric Co., LTD.) BRT. 400 Communications Receiver, with original documentation and a few other bits and pieces.
This radio was the main communications receiver at Nairobi airport (Used for communication between Johannesburg and Nairobi) until 1976/1977 when it was acquired by a member of staff at the Australian High Commission. The radio was fully working and came with original documentation (still present - see the photos below). At the time a wooden case was custom built to fit the radio, as it was previously rack mounted in the control tower.
The radio has only been used a few times since 1977.
The radio comes with the original communications receiver operating handbook (blue cover), a second generalised operating handbook with circuit diagrams (brown/gray cover) and radio australia schedules. Additionally, the documentation contains a letter sent by the Australian High Commission in Nairobi requesting a list of spare parts (also included). The envelope is also included, postmarked 'Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya' and 'Nairobi 2IX77 Kenya'.
Bigger Picture of the manualsThis radio has been well cared for, although it has not been tested recently. It is likely that some components (old capacitors/resistors) may no longer operate, but this is for the buyer to determine. The components do not appear damaged or corroded.
You can view photos of the inside of the radio at
http://www.neozap.com/radio/pics/brt400.html
There is also the possibility that this model is the BRT 402, but all documentation refers to it as the BRT 400.
