EXCELLENT VEGETABLE DYES

    This Authentic Antique Caucasian Pile Rug from Shirvan has a Hand Spun Wool Pile Symmetrically Hand Knotted to Hand Spun Two Ply Ivory and Brown Wool Warps and Cotton Wefts with Excellent Vegetable Dyes. The Three Impressive Stepped Medallions are Nicely Set on a Ground with Rectangular Panels and Geometric Motifs Dotted on the Field which Include Some Charming Animal and Bird Motifs. This Well Spaced Design Layout, Fine Weaving Style and Vegetable Dyes Are Obvious Proof of an Origin in Shirvan Over the Period 1880 to 1900.

      It Has Been Hand Washed, Measures 1.9m x 1.18m (6ft 3 inches x 3ft 10.5 inches), Is an Excellent Example of Shirvan Weaving from the Period and has some signs of its 110 Years Of Age including some wear at the warp ends and selvedges, lower areas of pile some worn to the base weave and a few very small sections of reknotted pile. It is a Unique Collectible and Highly Decorative Weaving and Offers Excellent Tangible Investment Opportunity in These Uneasy Times of the Paper Based Financial Market. See Photos.
