This is a personal EPIRB it has not been used and the manufacturers seal (and warranty) is still intact.
It was bought April last year.

The  seven year battery life will expire in Sept 2015 when the battery can be replace for about $200.
The unit has the GPS for a fast and acurrate detection to within 45 metres.
 
Do not buy the non GPS version of the 406Mhz PLB they are slow (up to 2 hours) and inaccurate (5kms)

A: There is no cost to register the beacon. Australian coded beacons can only be registered to Australian residential addresses, they can be used anywhere in the world. rgds davo
