MEET MY CLAYTONS BAMBOO


  

 

The Golden Cane Palm, Chrysalidocarpus lutescens,

is one of the most attractive and versatile palms.

It does exceptionally well in the warmer regions and it will even tolerate the odd frost or two.

This palm is enormously versatile in landscaping.

 


 

As you can see in my photos I have cut away a lot of the suckers to create a bamboo effect.

 

 

If you leave them to grow naturally..they will provide a dense screen of golden leaves but you wont see the stems.

  The Golden Canes erect golden stems make a bold statement and can be used as a great accent plant. It can also be used to good effect around swimming pools where the fronds can provide some much-needed shade for the pool. Its root system won't cause damage to the pool either. Another example of its versatility can be seen in the way it performs as a container grown specimen. All it needs is a large tub and a free-draining potting mix. The Golden Cane Palm is one of the more popular clumping palms and when grown in the ground it will reach a height of about 4 metres. If you are looking for an easy care plant with great landscaping potential the Golden Cane Palm could be the one for you.

 Q: what is the average germination time in ideal conditions for these seeds...thanks
A: Mine took about 8 weeks in winter and they were sitting on heat pads.Summer( in QLD ) they should take aprox the same time without bottom heat. I use Sunshine Mix propagating medium...Louise

A: Hard question to answer as If your in Cairns and you do every thing right, they will grow fast. If your in Melbourne , they are slower. Cheers Louise
