This vintage gravy or sauce jug from Alfred Meakin, England, measures 8cm high to the top of the lip; and 13cm X 6.5cm across the top opening excluding the handle; the sides are wider. Please use the photo as part of the description. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, crazing, wear or fading. Unfortunately, it does have some small light stains inside the base; there are 2 small splotches of blue underneath the motif on one side and a couple of very small dark marks in the glaze. The gilt trim around the rim and on the handle appears unworn and bright. The pattern is intact. The background colour is ivory/pale cream. The base of the jug is marked "Harmony Shape; Alfred Meakin, England; U.S.A. patent no 79282". Could of course be used for milk, cream or mayonaise also.
Sale is due to down sizing collection. I am not a trader or business. I accept cash on pickup.
I do not post on Tuesdays or Fridays; please keep this in mind when waiting for deliveries.
All my items are given a thorough warm, soapy wash and warm rinse so that (a) you receive clean china and (b) I can thoroughly check the condition of each piece. I try to reveal all faults as I see them and to report the condition of each piece as accurately as possible. Unfortunately, I am human and my eyesight is not what it used to be. If you find a defect I have missed, please contact me when parcel arrives and I will endeavour to make amends. Please keep comments friendly; sellers are people too. I do not accept responsibility for breakages in transit. I have a finite number of pieces so this is a temporary hobby for me.
I charge a small handling fee to cover packaging costs. Save on P & H by combining purchases.
