Growing Orchids

-         David P. Banks

Soft-cover - 122 pages – approx 9½ x 7¼ x ½ inches  – a number of colour photos;  Glossary, Bibliography, Index; 2001 (Kangaroo Press, Publ.).

Weight is approx. 360g.

The cover is in good condition – no shelf-wear, no creases to spine;  however, indentation is visible from the effects of being used as a surface on which to write – has to be held at a certain angle to the light to really notice (see if you can pick it in the photo).  Binding is firm.

Pages are in very good condition – no finger-marks or creasing;  clean and unmarked, except for a faint stroke of red marker-pen to the bottom edges, which does not affect page faces.

The World of Orchids

…from the blurb:

Orchids have fascinated people for years.  Breathtakingly beautiful, exotic and surrounded by mystery, many home gardeners wrongly believe them to be difficult to grow.  David P. Banks takes the guesswork out of growing orchids by providing practical advice based on more than thirty years’ experience.

Growing Orchids is an up-to-date and informative guide to cultivating these intriguing plants.  Included is information on housing orchids, temperature and watering requirements, suitable potting materials, seedling care and a comprehensive section on orchid propagation.

Discover the world of orchids with the extensive list of 100 different orchid genera and descriptions of over 400 species.  More than 100 stunning colour photographs, including many rare and recently discovered species, showcase the tremendous variation found throughout the orchid kingdom.

David P. Banks has an extensive collection of species and hybrid orchids, and operates the Hills District Orchids nursery.  He is a popular lecturer on various aspects of orchids and their cultivation, at meetings and conferences in Australia and abroad.  His articles and award-winning photographs have been published to international acclaim in a variety of orchid journals and books.  David P. Banks is the editor of the Australian Orchid Review.
