<Description>

Up for auction, A Beautiful and Rare Original Hermannsburg Watercolour Painting, Central Australia Landscape, Rocky Valley with Gum Trees by Well Listed and Famous Aboriginal artist Gabriel Namatjira (1941-1969), one of very important artists of Hermannsburg School.

Gabriel is Eldest Son of Famous Iconic Hermannsburg Artist Enos Namatjira (1920-1960), Grandson of Master Albert Namatjira (1902-1959)

Gabriel Namatjira died tragically young at age of 28, he began to paint in 1959 shortly before the death of his grandfather Albert Namatjira, in short period of 10 years, he mastered his art, produced very limited quality output, his watercolours are highly sought after and Collectable nowadays

Rex Battarbee Once Wrote:

Gabriel was born into a tragic family. He was the eldest son of Enos, and his mother and brother charles both died when he was a small boy. despite this he grew to be a kindly and pleaasant personality; quitely spoken, contented, and considerate. He was a memorable and well liked individual and a most compenent painter. But like his fater he died suddenly in may 1969.
