Make the most of your map capable Garmin GPS
Tracks4Australia PRO is a electronic map set of Australia for map capable Garmin GPS.
This T4A PRO map set is NOT marketed or endorsed by Garmin but it can be used as follows:
- Viewed on your PC if you have a Garmin Mapsource program such as City Navigator, Metroguide, Worldmap, Trip & Waypoint Manager etc
- If you don't have Mapsource these maps can be transferred to a Garmin map capable GPS using a provided Windows driven command program
- The Tracks4Australia PRO map set works with all map capable Garmin GPS including:
- Garmin V , 60C/ CS / CSx , Map 72, Map 76 / 76CX /CS , Map 96 / 96C , Map 176 / 176C, 276C
- StreetPilot 2610 / C320 / C330 / C340 / 510 / SPIII
- Zumo 450 / 500 / 550 WARNING!! See below
- Nuvi 200 / 250 / 300 / 310 / 660 / etc WARNING!! See below
- Quest / Astro
- Etrex Vista / Vista C / Vista CX / Legend C / Legend CX /
- Rino 120 / 130 / 520 etc
- T4A maps will work with grey scale GPS (non colour models) such as Garmin V
- WARNING for Nuvi & Zumo owners!!
Most Nuvi & Zumo come with maps pre-loaded into internal memory. You MUST load our maps onto an SD card using Mapsource. If you load maps into internal memory you will wipe your internal maps
- T4A PRO will NOT work on the following:
- GPS 10 / GPS 18 / Geko / GPS 72
- T4A PRO will NOT work on Magellan, Navman, Mio, Tom Tom, Lowrance or any other GPS not manufactured by Garmin. Sorry, I have no idea where you can get maps for any of these except the original manufacturer.
- The focus is on rural areas - only main roads are shown in metro areas.
- Includes major highways, secondary roads, minor roads & tracks
- Includes remote areas such as Birdsville track etc
- Shows cities, towns & rural communities
- Shows homesteads (in more remote areas)
- Includes national parks & reserves
- Includes lakes, rivers & some creeks
- These maps are NOT auto routing, i.e they will NOT provide turn by turn directions.
- To view these maps on a PC you MUST first own Garmin Worldmap, Trip & Waypoint Manager or other Garmin Mapsource product
- If you don't have Mapsource then you may use the included Sendmap utility to transfer all or some maps to your GPS. However, we strongly you reccomend you use Mapsource, it is much, much easier.

NOTE:
If you plan on visiting Australia with a USA or European base map GPS it will be both frustrating & inadequate. Install Tracks4Australia PRO and you will have fantastic detail of outback areas and all major highways, secondary roads etc. (Metro detail is limited)

I have found Tracks4Australia to be very useful in the course of our field work and have been recommending it to other geologists and surveyors. It is a superior product to the Garmin basemaps and WorldMap - I can't comment on how it ranks against Metroguide as I haven't used it. But for country and remote areas of Australia it is in a class of it's own.

Although my play has been short, I have found it has better coverage in a few areas then MetroGuide- around Ben Bullen SF (Baal Bone Gap) for example.

Tracks4Aus maps show much greater detail (particularly in rural areas), even un-named tracks in the high country are often shown

Just returned from a 10,000 km 2.5 week trip using Tracks4Australia. Excellent. A couple of tracks were off by up to 0.2 km. New constructed road was upto 3km from the 'old' road. Still better than the Natmap and Hemma maps

Question
The unit that I'm considering is a Garmin 2610 with US basemap only (no city navigator mapping) So, if I understand correctly, I need to additionally purchase the Worldmap to enable your mapping to be loaded onto GPS Is this correct? Thanks
Answer:
We can supply at no cost a command line program (Sendmap) to transfer our maps to your GPS but I recommend you use some flavour of Mapsource as it is both easier and you can then use the maps on your PC as well. A better all round solution.
The MapSource product could be any version of WorldMap, City Navigator, Metroguide or Trip & Waypoint Manager, etc. Trip & Waypoint Manager is the least expensive option. T&WMgr can be purchased in Australia from Garmin dealers for approx $59 or occasionly we have T &WP Mgr for sale on eBay.

Hi if I buy an imported US Garmin GPS, which obviously only has US mapping MapSource, will your product provide mapping for Australia? (I'm only looking for off-road/rural coverage) Thanks
Answer:
Yes, if you transfer our maps to a US base map GPS it will be like an Australian base map GPS in most respects. In some respects it will be better.

Will your maps work with my Garmin 276C / 176C / SP 2610 / SP C320 / Nuvi 660 etc?
Answer:
Yes, we believe our maps will work with any map capable Garmin GPS.
Please take note:
- Our maps are not auto routing, i.e. they will not give you "turn right at next intersection" etc.
- We recommend you use Garmin's Mapsource program to transfer maps to your GPS. You may need to update Mapsource after you purchase it but updates are free from Garmin's web site at http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp
- Some GPS models have City Navigator maps in permanent memory. These will NOT be overwritten but you will have to switch off CN in order to see our maps.

Hi I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60C is this compatible with your product? The only software i have is Trip & Waypoint Manager. My GPS has no base map on it just a big blank picture of Australia. Thanks Allen.
Answer:
Tracks4Australia PRO is ideal for a GPSMAP60C. Trip & Waypoint Manager is one of the many variants of mapsource sold by Garmin and you can use T&WP Mgr to view our maps on your PC or transfer them to your GPS. See the comments from other Tracks4Australia users.

Hi, I have just bought a Garmin Legend Cx on Ebay from the USA. It does have the North Americas basemap already on it. Can I still download the Tracks4Australia PRO without too many problems? Thanks John
Answer:
Tracks4Australia PRO is perfect for a North American basemap GPS to be used in Australia. You cannot replace the basemap but you can transfer our maps to your GPS and show them in preference to the original base map. They will be more accurate and complete than a Garmin Australian base map. You can switch our maps off and see the base map at any time you like.

No, our maps are only suitable for Garmin GPS. Sorry, I don't know where you can get maps for Lowrance GPS. I recommend Garmin GPS!
